9/11 As History
9/11 As History is a multi-dimensional program and resource to help youth, parents and educators address the anniversary of September 11th. It was designed by Families and Work Institute with the assistance of the National Institute on Media and Family, the Anti-Defamation League, the Post September 11 Education Consortium, Educators for Social Responsibility and Reading Rainbow to help adults and youth of all ages reflect on and be intentional in their response to the anniversary and offers free Web-based tools, curriculum for grades Pre-K through 12, resources and tips for educators and parents on talking to youth and dealing with trauma. Released on the first anniversary of 9/11, we are very pleased that this resource has continued to be used over the last nine years. Families and Work Institute invites educators, families, employee parents groups and community organizations to use and share these age-specific materials on the 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and Flight 93.

9/11: Looking Back, Moving Forward
9/11: Looking Back, Moving Forward is a book available for purchase from Families and Work Institute which provides tools for educators to help children respond to traumatic events with resiliency and hope. Created as an extension of the “9/11 As History” initiative, the book provides an overview of 16 downloadable lesson plans (available for below), and features examples of the student writings and artwork inspired by the curricula. These powerful, inspiring quotes and images show the range and magnitude of children’s emotional responses and the need for educators to guide children in communicating about our changing world.
