WORK LIFE LEADERS FROM MANY FIELDS TO BE HONORED AT
FAMILIES AND WORK INSTITUTE’S WORK LIFE LEGACY AWARDS ON MAY 2

Outstanding Contributions from Cross-Disciplinary Leaders Key to
Evolution of America’s Work Life Movement

NEW YORK, April 21, 2005—Families and Work Institute will honor leaders in the work life movement whose contributions and accomplishments have been extraordinary at the 2005 Work Life Legacy Award luncheon. Through the efforts of these and other leaders, new ways of making work "work" are emerging that benefit both employers and employees. 

The 2005 Work Life Legacy Award luncheon will take place in New York City on May 2 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Cipriani 42nd Street.

Recipients of the 2005 Work Life Legacy Award include:

  • Mark Loughridge, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, IBM
  • Randy MacDonald, Senior Vice President of Human Resources, IBM
  • Lotte Bailyn, T Wilson Professor of Management, M.I.T. Sloan School of Management
  • Susan V. Berresford, President, The Ford Foundation
  • Dana E. Friedman, Project Director, Early Care and Education - Long Island
    President, Women on the Job
  • Sue Shellenbarger, Senior Writer, The Wall Street Journal

Recipients of the 2005 Chris C. Kjeldsen Work Life Legacy award, co-sponsored with Bright Horizons and given to outstanding work life practitioners are:

  • Joy Bunson, Senior Vice President Organizational Development, JPMorgan Chase
  • Faith Wohl, Formerly President, Child Care Action Campaign

“The diversity of experiences and backgrounds of this year’s honorees—from a Chief Financial Officer to a journalist to a foundation president—shows how vital the work life movement in America has become,” said Ellen Galinsky, president of Families and Work Institute. “The Work Life Legacy Award shines a spotlight on these men and women’s achievements and by doing so, shows how economic and social change really takes place.”

“Through Families and Work Institute’s Work Life Legacy Award, the work life movement has a way to honor and document the achievements of its leaders,” said Michael J. Carey, former Corporate Vice President, Human Resources, Johnson and Johnson and Chairman of the event. “We hope that through making these stories heard, future leaders will be inspired to greatness.”
