Richard P. Shore, PhD

Richard (Dick) Shore received a PhD in Industrial Psychology from Wayne State University and began his career as a professor at Bowling Green State University.
He then moved to the U.S. Department of Labor, hired by Daniel Patrick Moynihan in the midst of the War on Poverty. Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Shore was responsible for the 1997 Quality of Employment Survey, the first national data set to include questions on the work-family interface. He also convened the first national conference on work and family.
At Cornell University, Dr. Shore served as Executive Director of the Institute for Labor Market Policies.
He currently volunteers daily at the InterDistrict Downtown School in Minneapolis.
