Chris C. Kjeldsen Work Life Legacy Award

Families and Work Institute and Bright Horizons Family Solutions are proud to honor the memory of Chris Kjeldsen through the Chris C. Kjeldsen Work Life Legacy Award. This award recognizes work life practitioners who have made extraordinary contributions, as leaders and as innovators, to the work life movement. Chris Kjeldsen was a nationally recognized expert on corporate work and family programs. At Johnson & Johnson, he served as vice president of community and workplace programs from 1994 until his death in 2003. A champion of working families,Chris Kjeldsen drove the creation of and oversaw Johnson & Johnson’s on-site child care facilities, elder care services and a variety of programs to help employees manage their work and personal lives. He was also a nationally recognized expert on corporate dependent child and elder care programs, appearing on television, including the Today Show, and was quoted in numerous magazine and newspaper articles. He was honored by Working Mother magazine as a leader in the battle for better quality child care and work family programs.

Chris Kjeldsen was also a founding member of the American Business Collaboration for Quality Dependent Care, past co-chair of The Conference Board’s Work Life Leadership Council and a member of the Business and Aging Leadership Roundtable of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. He was an advisor for the Investing in Child Care report that was presented to President Clinton in April 1998.
